New Stories, Fresh Perspectives.
I am an innovative and visionary filmmaker dedicated to creating compelling content that resonates with audiences. My work often takes me into spaces and communities rarely seen on screen, uncovering untold stories and exploring complex issues with humour, warmth, and authenticity.
I’ve been fortunate to work on a range of critically acclaimed projects. My series Sixteen: Class of 2021 (Channel 4) was described as “Emotionally pulverising” (The Guardian) and an “Eye-opening study of modern youth” (The Telegraph). Bradford on Duty (BBC2), which follows frontline workers tackling health inequalities and homelessness, was praised for its “Raw and honest portrayal…with Yorkshire warmth and humour” (The Yorkshire Telegraph) and was nominated for Best Factual Series at the RTS North West Awards.
I’ve also worked on lighter, character-driven stories that bring communities to life. The Bradford Aunties (BBC1) was a joyful exploration of universal themes of family and friendship, celebrated as “A delightful and light-hearted portrait of community life” (The Yorkshire Post) - allowing me to combine my love for relatability and depth in my storytelling.
My work often tackles challenging subjects in accessible ways. The Great British School Swap (Channel 4) explored how race and religion shape attitudes in Britain, described as a “Bold and necessary challenge” (The Guardian) and “Both a heartwarming and thought-provoking social experiment” (The Evening Standard).
What defines my work is a commitment to authenticity and deftness to package complex themes into popular and insightful content. From the BAFTA-winning Muslims Like Us (BBC2) to the Grierson Award-winning Hometown (BBC3), I strive to tell stories with integrity, amplifying voices and perspectives that deserve to be heard.
For me, storytelling is about forging connections—bringing audiences into worlds they’ve never seen or casting new light on the ones they think they know.
